Simon was delighted to attend another brilliant Famtastic event this week, this time at the stunning Macdonald Portal Golf & Spa Resort in Cheshire. Here is his rundown of his Famtastic evening:
Warm Welcome & First Impressions
The journey up the M6 was wonderfully smooth, and on arrival the car park was already buzzing with golfers. The championship course looked immaculate – lush, green, and clearly well-loved by those who play it. Check-in was quick and convenient, with my room located just a few steps from reception – a great start to the evening ahead.
Networking & Venue Highlights
The afternoon began with tea, coffee, and plenty of treats to keep everyone energised. Agents and exhibitors enjoyed the chance to network, reconnect, and share insights before hearing from some fantastic venues.

Dining in Style
Our warm and welcoming resort host, Christine O’Neil, then led us to our private dining space. The setting was perfect, and we were treated to a delicious three-course meal – the perfect way to continue conversations and enjoy the evening in style.
Fun, Games & Famtastic Laughter
No Famtastic evening would be complete without some light-hearted fun. The wonderful Paula brought everyone together for a quiz with a twist – answers straight from schoolchildren!
One highlight that had the room in stitches:
Question: “Name four animals that live in the Antarctic.”
Answer: “Three polar bears and a penguin!”
A perfect reminder of the joy these events bring, both professionally and personally.
A Night to Remember
The evening was full of great conversations, plenty of laughter, and that signature Famtastic spirit that makes these events so enjoyable. A big thank you to the hosts, venues, and of course everyone else who came along – it was another memorable night!
